Icicle Creek work group to showcase 9 Million in water projects at public meeting

The Icicle Creek Work Group will host a public open house on February 26, 2025, to update the community on significant water management and infrastructure projects in the Icicle Creek watershed. Scheduled from 6 to 8 p. m. at the Chelan County Fire District No. 3 firehall, the event will feature a 30-minute presentation at 6:30 p.

m. led by Mary Jo Sanborn, a senior program manager with Chelan County Natural Resources. Among the projects discussed is a $9 million irrigation improvement initiative that aims to modernize an outdated system, enhancing instream flows and agricultural reliability. Engineers have also commenced design work at Eightmile Lake Dam, following the completion of an Environmental Impact Statement that recommends a new spillway. The Leavenworth National Fish Hatchery is addressing fish passage concerns with its recently completed fish screens and plans for further pipeline rehabilitation.

The open house serves as a platform for community members to learn about ongoing projects and future initiatives that will impact water supply and environmental sustainability.
