Leavenworth explores new parking options for residents, employees

Leavenworth, WALocal News

Leavenworth's Parking Advisory Committee is developing two parking programs to support downtown employees and residents outside the city. The proposed plan includes a $1 hourly rate for residents within the Upper Valley Park and Recreation Service Area for the first three hours, reverting to market rates thereafter. Downtown employees can apply for a $50 monthly permit allowing parking without time restrictions in select lots. The committee aims to gather public feedback before finalizing the proposals, expected for council approval by the end of this year. To qualify, residents must provide proof of residency and vehicle registration within the designated area, while employees must confirm their employment status.

The new programs aim to enhance access for those living just outside Leavenworth and promote local shopping. Staff reported increased momentum for these options following community feedback during a recent PAC meeting. A phased rollout is scheduled to begin in June 2026.
