Leavenworth decides on two city council seats in Nov. 4 election

Leavenworth City Council members Ron Duncan and Mike Bedard successfully retained their seats in the Nov. 4 election, with Bedard achieving nearly 70 percent of the vote. Clint Strand currently leads the race for the sixth seat against Marco Aurilio, having secured approximately 60 percent of the votes. Strand has served on the council since January 2018, while Aurilio's prior tenure was from 2022 to 2023. Rob Eaton will be the new council member for the seventh seat after running unopposed.

The election saw 13,637 ballots tabulated, with 1,258 remaining to be counted as of Nov. 5. The council's recent activities included the appointment of Bedard to fill a vacancy left by former member Rhona Baron, who resigned in October 2024. Voter turnout indicates a high level of civic engagement, critical for local governance. The results underscore the community's preferences for continuity and experience in its council members.
