Leavenworth to celebrate 100 years of historic Chumstick Grange
The Greater Leavenworth Museum will host a celebration for the Chumstick Grange's 100-year anniversary on October 8, featuring a potluck and presentations detailing the Grange's historical significance. Since its establishment, the Chumstick Grange has served as a crucial center for farmer education and community support in Leavenworth. The Grange Hall, which originally functioned as a train depot in the early 1900s, has been a venue for numerous community activities, including jam sessions and craft fairs. The event will run from 5 p. m.
to 7 p. m. at 621 Front Street. Granges have been vital to American history, advocating for agricultural communities and providing educational resources. Recent decades saw the Grange hosting dances and Open Mic Nights, further connecting residents.
This centennial celebration reflects the ongoing relevance of the Grange in fostering community ties. For more information, Taylor Caldwell can be reached at 509-433-7276 or via email.
