DNA testing confirmed that human remains found near Grindstone Mountain belong to Travis Decker, concluding Chelan County's largest manhunt. Decker was wanted for the deaths of his three daughters, which Sheriff Mike Morrison described as one of the most horrific crimes in the region. He expressed hope that the resolution provides closure to the victims' mother, Whitney, and acknowledged the extensive efforts of law enforcement in the case. The investigation was supported by insights from Washington State Patrol operational psychologist Stacy Cecchet, which led to the successful search area. Morrison praised the dedication of his detectives and the community's support throughout the lengthy investigation.

While the case is now closed, the coroner is still examining the details of Decker’s death. Morrison reiterated the emotional toll on his department, stating no officer should have to confront such tragic details. He emphasized that, despite the resolution, the loss of the children remains immeasurable.
