Leavenworth Library to host Reframing Menopause discussion

The Leavenworth Library will host a community event titled “Reframing Menopause” on Thursday, Oct. 2, from 5–7 p. m. This program features presentations from medical expert Vanessa Weiland, a board-certified Nurse Practitioner, and holistic practitioner Heidi Bard, who focuses on yoga for symptom management. Weiland's extensive experience includes care for patients dealing with hormonal health issues, while Bard aims to reframe menopause as a period of growth.

Attendees will explore topics like the various stages of menopause, lifestyle adjustments, and how to engage effectively with healthcare providers. Librarian Hannah Kwon emphasized the importance of addressing prevailing myths about menopause, stating that the cultural conversation is shifting towards viewing it as a natural life stage. The event serves as a gathering space for women to share experiences and validate one another's journeys. Kwon expressed excitement about the opportunity for women to reflect on both new knowledge and personal experiences. The event is free and open to the public, aiming to empower women with knowledge and confidence.
