Missing hiker found dead in Enchantments

Andrew Wong, a 37-year-old hiker from Long Island, New York, was found dead in the Enchantments on September 9 after being reported missing. He had not returned from his hike two days earlier, which prompted the Chelan County Sheriff's Office to launch a search operation. Wong's vehicle was located at a nearby trailhead, leading to a coordinated response involving the Chelan County Mountain Rescue team and a helicopter from the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office. The search focused on the perilous terrain near Dragontail Peak, where Wong was ultimately discovered. Authorities noted that his injuries were consistent with a fall, indicating the tragic circumstances of his death.

The Chelan County Sheriff's Office extended condolences to Wong's family while acknowledging the dedication of the rescue teams in their challenging recovery efforts. The Enchantments area is known for its beautiful yet hazardous hiking trails, often drawing outdoor enthusiasts from various regions.
