RiverCom 911 receives green light for facility planning

Leavenworth, WALocal News

RiverCom 911 has received unanimous approval from the state’s Project Review Committee to adopt a General Contractor/Construction Manager (GC/CM) delivery method for its planned emergency communications center. This approach involves contractors in the early planning stages, which helps to identify potential challenges and keep the project on budget. Executive Director Doug Jones stated that this approval brings the agency closer to delivering a modern 911 center tailored to its needs. Currently, RiverCom operates from the Wenatchee Police Department, but the existing space limits its capacity to hire and train dispatchers. Constructing a standalone facility will support the agency's growth and enhance its operations for first responders in Chelan and Douglas counties.

The GC/CM method is commonly used for complex public projects in Washington, reducing last-minute changes and budget issues. The Board of Directors is exploring funding options for future system improvements, including the new facility. This modern center is essential for providing reliable, 24-hour communications for the region's residents and visitors.
