Splash Bash at Howard Hopkins Memorial Pool cancelled for 2025

Leavenworth, WALocal News

The Upper Valley Aquatics Boosters (UVAB) cancelled the Summer Splash Bash at Howard Hopkins Memorial Pool, originally scheduled for August 23, 2025. The announcement on Facebook provided no reason for the cancellation, but the group looks forward to hosting a similar event in 2026. The inaugural Splash Bash last year was a successful effort to engage the community and support the pool amidst challenges related to a Park and Recreation Service Area levy. This year’s event was expected to include BBQ, pool games, and cold treats, free for residents of the PRSA, which encompasses Leavenworth, Peshastin, and Chumstick Highway. Repair issues delayed the pool’s opening, ultimately affecting the party’s scheduling.

UVAB has recently established a board of directors and is now prioritizing improvements for the current pool and plans for a year-round aquatics facility. The cancellation highlights ongoing challenges faced by community organizations in maintaining local recreational facilities. Nevertheless, UVAB’s commitment to community engagement remains strong, aiming to foster support for aquatic activities in the region.
