Beloved Leavenworth bike duo keeps rolling with community-funded upgrade

Leavenworth, WALocal News

Paul and Daniel Anderman, a cherished biking pair in Leavenworth, received overwhelming community support to upgrade their tandem bike after nearly three decades of riding. Their old bike, which had logged over 15,000 miles, showed signs of wear, raising safety concerns as Paul faced challenges due to age and health issues. Daniel's brother Nick initiated a GoFundMe campaign that quickly surpassed its $6,000 goal, amassing nearly $10,000 in just three days. The funds enabled the family to purchase a new battery-assisted tandem trike, providing enhanced stability and support for their rides. Paul highlighted the social connections formed during their biking excursions, stating, “It’s a real social life out there.

” Community members have long recognized the duo, often greeting them with waves and cheers. The family plans to donate any surplus funds to Upper Valley Connection, a local organization that supports people with disabilities. This biking tradition not only strengthens family bonds but also fosters community engagement.
