Leavenworth musician advances in national music contest

Devorah Gottesman, a local musician from Leavenworth, has advanced to the quarterfinals of America's Next Top Hitmaker, competing for a chance to perform at the Global Citizen Festival and win $50,000. She topped her group in public voting, demonstrating her significant local support and talent. Devorah attributes her success to the encouragement from her musically inclined parents and her strong faith in her dreams. Her career includes a notable bicycle tour across the country to raise funds for the Wounded Warrior Project, during which she performed at schools and hospitals. Devorah plans to use a portion of any winnings to support local charities and to fund a docudrama about her childhood hero, baseball player Rocky Colavito.

She believes that regardless of the contest outcome, she will continue to create music and finish her projects. Devorah's determination and resilience have earned her nicknames like 'Princess of Persistence,' highlighting her unique approach to her musical journey. Her story resonates with many, emphasizing the importance of following one's dreams while giving back to the community.
