Chelan County is actively seeking nominations for Purple Heart recipients to be inducted into the 2025 Hall of Honor, a tribute to service members wounded or killed in action. This effort follows the county's designation as a Purple Heart County in 2024, which aims to recognize local military heroes. Nominations are accepted for recipients from Chelan or Douglas counties, including Wenatchee, East Wenatchee, Chelan, and Rock Island. Amber Hallberg, the Chelan County Community Services manager, stated, “Their stories of sacrifice are deeply valued and we’re proud to honor them. ” The nomination deadline is set for 5 p.

m. on July 18, and inductees will be recognized at a community celebration on August 7 at the Wenatchee Veterans Hall. Family members can submit applications on behalf of deceased recipients, ensuring their legacies are honored. This initiative provides a platform for the community to come together and pay tribute to those who made significant sacrifices for their country. The Hall of Honor will feature a commemorative plaque displayed at the Veteran Services Office in Wenatchee.
