Injured Hiker rescued from Enchantments

Leavenworth, WALocal News

On June 20, the Chelan County Sheriff’s Office rescued a 32-year-old Seattle woman after she injured her shoulder while hiking in the Enchantments. The woman fell and could not walk, leading to a helicopter response before a windstorm arrived. She was transported to Leavenworth Fish Hatchery, where medical personnel were ready to assist. The Washington Trails Association stresses that hikes in the Enchantments require significant effort, including a minimum of seven miles and 4,400 feet of elevation gain. They encourage hikers to check weather conditions, prepare for emergencies, and consider taking wilderness first aid courses.

Over 800 search and rescue missions are conducted each year in Washington, underscoring the importance of safety for outdoor enthusiasts. This incident serves as a reminder of the potential hazards associated with hiking in remote areas. Hikers are urged to be vigilant and well-prepared to avoid similar situations.
