City of Leavenworth to cut ribbon on Front Street Park Restrooms and Stairway

Leavenworth, WALocal News

Leavenworth will celebrate the completion of the Front Street Park Restroom and Stairway Expansion Project with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on July 1 at 10:30 a. m. The $1. 97 million project, funded through the city’s Lodging Tax Fund, aims to improve restroom capacity and maintenance while enhancing pedestrian traffic flow. The new design features seven stalls and five sinks in the female restroom and includes a family/gender-neutral single stall restroom.

Initial construction bids exceeded the original estimate of $1. 2 million, leading to a reassessment and a new bid opening. Following construction's commencement in August 2024, the project faced delays through winter and spring. The restrooms are strategically located next to the Gazebo and Front Street Park, making them essential for downtown visitors. This project is significant for local residents and tourists, as it improves essential amenities in a central public space.

Enhanced facilities will likely increase foot traffic and improve the overall visitor experience in Leavenworth.
