Everett Fire Department's quick response prevents spread of residential fire

Everett, WALocal News

A significant residential fire occurred in the View Ridge-Madison Neighborhood of Everett on April 1, 2024, prompting a rapid response from the Everett Fire Department. Firefighters arrived at the scene to find a working fire at the back of a garage structure, which had already spread to the attic of a neighboring duplex. Fortunately, all residents managed to evacuate without injury, although five individuals from the duplex were displaced and received emergency housing assistance. The fire originated from a lean-to-shed structure adjacent to the garage, but the exact cause remains undetermined. The primary residence suffered damage to its siding due to radiant heat, while the duplex experienced attic fire damage and significant smoke and water damage.

The fire also impacted a nearby vehicle, further illustrating the incident's severity. The Everett Fire Department urges residents to prioritize fire safety by maintaining electrical systems and ensuring smoke alarms are functional. For those in need, the department offers free smoke alarm installations to enhance home safety.
