Home Depot employee arrested for alleged theft in Tumwater

Tumwater, WALocal News

In Tumwater, Henry Davidson, a 20-year-old Home Depot employee, was arrested for allegedly stealing nearly $900 from cash registers over several weeks. Store officials initiated an internal investigation after noticing discrepancies in cash totals, prompting them to contact the Tumwater Police Department. Upon arrival, officers interviewed Davidson, who confessed to the theft dating back to April 20, driven by financial struggles within his family. He expressed a sense of inevitability about being caught, believing it was better to be apprehended than to let his family remain in dire circumstances. Authorities recovered $120 from his vehicle, which was returned to the store, emphasizing the ongoing issue of retail theft.

Davidson faces charges of second-degree theft and has been booked into Thurston County jail. This incident underscores the impact of personal financial crises on employee behavior and retail security. Home Depot management may need to reassess their internal controls and employee support systems to prevent similar occurrences.
