Tumwater, WALocal News

A rally aimed at supporting Social Security and its workers is set for May 9 from 11 a. m. to 1 p. m. at the Social Security Administration office in Lacey.

Organized by Olympia Indivisible, the event invites public participation and aims to raise awareness for the importance of Social Security. Attendees can donate nonperishable food items to benefit the Thurston County Food Bank, including essentials like canned goods and rice. Olympia Indivisible, a pro-democracy group established in 2017, has become part of a national movement advocating for various social issues. The rally highlights community engagement and solidarity in support of Social Security, which faces ongoing scrutiny in policy discussions. This event reflects local efforts to address broader concerns surrounding social safety nets.

Participation may also signal residents' priorities regarding social welfare programs.
