Tumwater awards 321K contract for sewer main project on Antsen Street

Tumwater, WALocal News

The Tumwater City Council approved a $321,000 contract with A&D Enterprises LLC for a new sewer main project on Antsen Street. The 6-inch diameter sewer main will extend 1,425 feet from Sapp Road to Chapparel Drive, increasing system capacity in an area served by two lift stations. City Engineer Jeff Query emphasized the importance of the project in enhancing wastewater management. Additionally, the project will decommission an unused lift station near Lake Park Drive, addressing safety concerns due to its active electrical components. Construction is expected to last four weeks, with completion anticipated by July, and will coincide with the city's annual pavement maintenance project.

Eleven firms submitted bids for the project, with A&D Enterprises offering the lowest bid of $321,000, significantly below the city engineer's estimate of $377,000. This infrastructure upgrade is vital for supporting the city’s growing population and ensuring reliable sewer services. The project reflects Tumwater's commitment to improving public utilities and enhancing community safety.
