Tumwater, WALocal News

The Tumwater Public Health and Safety Committee has endorsed a $5. 6 million contract with 365Labs to upgrade the jail and records management system utilized by law enforcement agencies across Thurston County. This new system is crucial for improving data sharing and collaboration among jurisdictions, including Tumwater, Olympia, Lacey, Yelm, Tenino, and the county sheriff's office. Police Admin Supervisor Laura Wohl highlighted that the current system is inadequate for jail management and has become obsolete following the merger of its previous provider. The financial structure of the contract involves a first-year payment of $1.

45 million, with approximately $1 million required in subsequent years, allocated based on population. Tumwater's financial commitment is estimated at around $305,038, primarily for maintaining the existing system. The transition to 365Labs promises a more configurable and accessible web-based solution with lower maintenance costs. The committee's endorsement is a vital step before the contract is presented to the city council on January 21 for final approval. This move reflects a proactive approach to enhancing public safety and operational efficiency in the region.
