Tumwater renewing contract with Thurston County Medic One
Tumwater City Council approved a three-year contract with Thurston County Medic One, ensuring paramedic services continue through 2028. Mayor Debbie Sullivan signed the contract following a meeting on October 21. Medic One operates eight paramedic units throughout the county, and the renewed agreement maintains 80% salary reimbursement for two Tumwater units and 89% for the Rochester-based Medic 14. The contract increases annual reimbursements for space used by paramedics to $32,400 and enhances training support from $50,000 to $75,000 per firefighter trainee. Chief Brian Hurley emphasized the importance of this funding for training and operational support.
The agreement also includes funding for a future training position and ongoing support for an oversight officer. This renewal reflects the city's commitment to maintaining high-quality emergency medical services. The changes aim to bolster the capability and readiness of local paramedic units.
