14 organizations to benefit from lodging taxes in Tumwater

Tumwater's City Council allocated $248,958 in lodging tax funds to 14 organizations focused on tourism-related programs. The Olympic Flight Museum received the largest funding of $46,833 for its annual air show, while Experience Olympia & Beyond was awarded $46,000 for event sponsorships. The Tumwater Downtown Association secured $27,500 to promote its annual 4th of July Festival. Notably, three organizations received funding for the first time, including SWAE LLC and the PARC Foundation. The city staff also secured $35,875 for events like Tumwater Fall Fest through lodging tax funds.

Additionally, the council approved $210,000 for historic and cultural preservation, including $110,000 for the Olympia Tumwater Foundation. The lodging tax, a 4% charge on hotel stays, supports tourism and preservation efforts. This funding reflects the city’s commitment to enhancing local tourism and preserving its cultural heritage.
