Tumwater to offer free and safe way to dispose of medicine, electronics and documents

Tumwater will host a "Clean-Up, Drop-Off" event on Saturday, Oct. 4, from 9 a. m. to noon at Tumwater City Hall, providing residents with a safe disposal option for old electronics, unused medications, and sensitive documents. Volunteers will assist participants from their vehicles, streamlining the drop-off process.

Residents can discard expired prescriptions at a nearby drop box located at the Tumwater Police Department. A shredding truck will be available for sensitive documents, with a limit of four grocery bags or banker boxes. The city advises against bringing hazardous waste, directing residents to the Thurston County Waste and Recovery Center for proper disposal of chemicals. The Thurston County Food Bank will also be present to collect nonperishable food donations during the event. Volunteers are encouraged to assist with various tasks, including directing traffic and managing items for local organizations.
