Tumwater committee endorses additional spending to connect ERP system with the cloud

Tumwater, WALocal News

Tumwater plans to allocate an additional $150,000 annually to transition its ERP system to the cloud, as endorsed by the Budget and Finance Committee. The city currently spends $182,347 per year on its Tyler Technologies Munis system, which it has utilized since 2021. Migrating to the cloud will increase costs to $334,000 annually but will enhance system resilience and introduce new functionalities. Project Manager Matthew Ames highlighted the urgency of this move, noting that delays could lead to more complicated data management processes. The city also intends to integrate utility bill payments with the ERP system, preventing service outages during the migration.

The contract amendment will be forwarded to the city council for approval on October 7, with migration expected to take four to six months. Additionally, public communication regarding the changes to bill payments will require three to six months. Future plans include integrating permits, inspections, and asset management into the ERP system, projected to take two years to complete.
