Tumwater, WALocal News

The Tumwater City Council authorized increased spending for two significant projects on 79th Avenue, including the development of Trails End Park and a new roundabout at Old Highway 99. The contract for Trails End Park, designed by Robert W. Droll Landscape Architect, was raised to $286,249 to support the creation of a detailed master plan, which incorporates community feedback. Planned amenities for the park include a play area, fitness stations, and picnic shelters, transforming the site of a former horse arena. Simultaneously, the contract for the roundabout project increased to $857,266 to address design revisions and necessary utility adjustments in preparation for the public works facility.

This project also includes frontage improvements for 79th Avenue. The roundabout's design phase will span from March 2023 to January 2024 due to scheduling delays. Increased funding reflects the city's commitment to enhancing local infrastructure and recreational facilities. These developments are vital for community engagement and future growth in the Tumwater area.
