Driver arrested after high-speed crash sends another motorist to hospital

Justin John Hansen, 32, was arrested in Tumwater after allegedly speeding over 100 mph in a white Dodge Charger, leading to a collision with a Dodge Ram that hospitalized a 76-year-old driver. The incident began around 3:15 p. m. , with Hansen racing southbound on Henderson Boulevard SE, causing other drivers to pull over to avoid an accident. After running a red light and striking the Ram, Hansen attempted to flee but was found hiding in bushes by police, who were directed by a witness.

Responding officers noted Hansen's erratic behavior and signs of recent drug use, including watery, bloodshot eyes. The injured driver is recovering at MultiCare Capitol Medical Center after suffering a fractured sternum. Hansen now faces multiple charges, including reckless driving and vehicular assault. This incident highlights ongoing concerns about reckless driving and drug use in the area. Local authorities may need to consider enhanced enforcement measures to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
