Man with active warrant arrested for alleged possession of a stolen car

Tumwater, WALocal News

Edward Troymine Johnson, 36, was arrested in Tumwater early on July 12 for allegedly possessing a stolen Dodge Charger parked in a Denny’s lot. A Tumwater Police officer conducting a business check discovered the vehicle without license plates and confirmed it was reported stolen from Cascade Motors. Johnson claimed he was authorized to drive the car, asserting it was an old police vehicle, but the dealership denied his employment and permission. Upon further investigation, authorities found Johnson had an active felony warrant for escaping community custody connected to a prior robbery conviction. He was taken into custody without incident and booked into Thurston County Jail on multiple charges.

The car was subsequently returned to Cascade Motors. This incident highlights ongoing issues with vehicle theft and the challenges law enforcement faces in tracking stolen property. Johnson's case underscores the importance of verifying claims made by individuals in possession of suspicious vehicles.
