Ballots mailed out for Aug. 5 primary election in Thurston County

The Thurston County Auditor's Office has mailed over 147,000 ballots to registered voters for the Aug. 5 Primary Election, emphasizing the importance of local engagement in the electoral process. Voters will choose candidates for key positions, including city council seats in Olympia and Yelm, as well as a Port of Olympia Commission seat. In addition, school board elections will occur in Olympia, Tumwater, and Yelm, alongside three ballot measures. To facilitate voting, 27 secure drop boxes will be available until 8 p.

m. on election day, and ballots must be postmarked by August 5, with no postage required. Voters seeking assistance or needing to register can visit the Thurston County Auditor’s Elections Division, which serves as a designated voting center. Those who do not receive their ballot by July 23 are encouraged to reach out to the Elections Division for support. This election marks a critical opportunity for residents to influence local governance and educational policy.
