Golden Bears win Region 1 Championship

The Oak Glen softball team triumphed in the Class AA Region 1 Championship, defeating St. Marys 8-2 to secure a spot in the upcoming state tournament. This victory represents their third appearance in the state tournament in four years. The Golden Bears took control of the game with a six-run second inning, demonstrating their offensive strength. Sophomore pitcher Mattie Carney was instrumental, striking out 14 batters and allowing only one walk throughout the game.

Coach Sherrie Garner highlighted the dedication of her players and the vital support from their community. Oak Glen has also claimed the OVAC Class 4A and Section 1 titles this season. The team's success can be attributed to their challenging schedule and the established mindset of resilience. With a record of 27-10, the Golden Bears look forward to competing at the state level.
