Vigil today for child abuse awareness

A candlelight vigil for child abuse awareness is set for today at 7 p. m. at Historic Fort Steuben in Steubenville. Hosted by A Child’s Place Court-Appointed Special Advocates, the event aims to honor the many children who have faced abuse and neglect. Attendees can sponsor luminaria for $5 or more, with proceeds benefiting advocacy efforts in Brooke, Hancock, and Jefferson counties.

Additionally, blue pinwheel bouquets will be sold for $15 each, symbolizing child abuse prevention. Entertainment will feature local talent, including Studio B, Cooper Crow, and Evan Con, enriching the community atmosphere. Food trucks, including Rusty Bull Taco and So Nuts 4 Donuts, will offer refreshments to attendees. This vigil serves as a reminder of the ongoing challenges faced by vulnerable children in the area and the importance of community support. Advocates urge local residents to participate and raise awareness about child abuse prevention efforts.
