Kripchak Truth, trust, hope are what Democrats need

Michael L. Kripchak announced his candidacy to challenge U. S. Rep. Mike Rulli in the 2026 general election during a meeting of Belmont County Democrats.

Previously, Kripchak ran against Rulli in a special election and a full-term election in 2024, securing 45. 4 percent of the vote in June and 34 percent in November. He emphasized the importance of truth, trust, and hope, urging Democrats to speak out against authoritarianism and misinformation. Kripchak criticized Rulli for his perceived failure to prioritize his constituents and for his alignment with former President Trump. He pointed out recent Supreme Court rulings and the passage of significant legislation as points of concern for Ohio residents.

Kripchak, identifying as a Rust Belt Democrat, aims to focus on the needs of children, farmers, and unions in Ohio. He described the Republican approach as creating division and undermining trust in governance. The 6th Congressional District includes multiple counties, highlighting its diverse voter base.

Completion of exterior lighting at Stanton and John Gregg Elementary schools is expected by the end of October.
