Steubenville council updated on road project

Toronto, OHLocal News

Steubenville's northbound lanes of Washington Street Hill will likely remain closed for seven to ten days due to significant concrete damage. City Engineer Mike Dolak indicated that the extreme temperatures are complicating repairs, as workers must use standard concrete instead of high-set options. Complaints have arisen from residents regarding the absence of detour signs, which would add approximately $5,000 to the repair budget. Dolak noted that redirecting traffic through southbound lanes would require an extensive traffic control plan, which is not feasible at this time. The city is working quickly to complete the repairs, but the weather is presenting ongoing challenges.

In addition to road repairs, the extreme heat is causing delays in local pool repairs, with only a limited swimming season expected this year. Council members have also discussed charter revisions and traffic light removals in lesser-used intersections during their recent meetings. City officials are striving to maintain safety and efficient traffic flow during this construction period.
