Snoqualmie Welcomes Wildlife-Inspired Light Pole Banners to City Streets

Snoqualmie, WALocal News

Snoqualmie has launched a series of wildlife-themed light pole banners, designed by local artist Susan Hass, to enhance its urban landscape. These vibrant banners feature artwork of a fox, owl, chickadee, and woodpecker, created using a unique relief painting technique that provides a raised, dimensional effect. This initiative, a collaboration between the City of Snoqualmie and the Snoqualmie Arts Commission, marks a milestone as it is the first time the commission has reached out to the artist community for light pole designs. The banners will be rotated with other seasonal installations, allowing for a dynamic representation of local art throughout the year. Nicole Wiebe, the Arts Commission Staff Liaison, highlighted the colorful and lively nature of Hass's submissions, expressing hope that the community will enjoy this new addition.

The commission's mission is to enrich the cultural lives of residents and visitors by placing art in public spaces. Alongside the banners, the Arts Commission also organizes events like Chalk the Block and Plein Air Paint Out. The commission is currently seeking new volunteer members to help further its mission of bringing art to the community.
