North Bend Hosts October 28 Open House on 230 Main Affordable Housing Project

North Bend will host an open house on October 28 from 5:30 to 7 p. m. at the North Bend Library to discuss the 230 Main Affordable Housing Project, which aims to provide affordable housing options for local workers, including schoolteachers and veterans. Attendees can meet project representatives, view plans for the 40-unit development, and engage in discussions about workforce housing needs. The North Bend City Council approved the purchase of a 0.

4-acre parcel in November 2023, funding the project with REET 2 revenues designated for affordable housing. Project goals include ensuring long-term affordability for workers earning no more than 60 percent of the King County median income. A public hearing on the proposed Disposition and Development Agreement will occur on November 5 at 6:30 p. m. at North Bend City Hall, where community members can provide feedback.

The DDA aims to secure city financial support and approve necessary code deviations for the project. This initiative aligns with the Economic Development and Housing Action Plan elements of the Comprehensive Plan.
