Shoreline College has secured a $697,300 grant to launch the Veteran Success Through Education program, designed to assist veterans and their families from underrepresented communities. The initiative, funded by the King County Veterans, Seniors and Human Services Levy, will operate from July 1, 2025, to June 30, 2027. It will offer culturally responsive case management, academic support, and financial assistance, addressing the needs of veterans who may not qualify for traditional VA benefits. Derek Levy, Dean of Student Support & Success, noted the program's potential to serve veterans facing challenges in higher education. Operation Military Family will provide individualized case management and connect veterans with necessary resources.

Funding will cover tuition, incidental expenses, and housing assistance based on need. The program aims to empower historically underserved veterans, including BIPOC and LGBTQ+ individuals. Joshua Salois, a Program Specialist II, expressed enthusiasm for the opportunity to support more student veterans and their families through this initiative.
