William Russell-Leonard, 29, is held in Snohomish County Jail on a $2 million bond after a crash involving his Mini Cooper that resulted in two fatalities. He faces serious charges including second-degree murder and vehicular homicide, with an Everett District Court hearing establishing probable cause. The crash occurred shortly after midnight on June 17, 2025, when the vehicle plunged into Puget Sound, following a high-speed police chase. Russell-Leonard and two other occupants survived, while two women were pronounced dead at the scene. The preceding events involved Russell-Leonard's girlfriend, who was assaulted and had her car stolen just days before the accident.

After the incident, it was revealed that both surviving men were under the influence of heroin and meth. A Washington State Patrol trooper initiated a chase after observing the Mini Cooper speeding on Interstate 5. The case highlights the tragic consequences of impaired driving and the impact of substance abuse on individuals and families.
