Jaden Marlow of Shorewood High School triumphed at the WA State Decathlon Championships, achieving a score of 7152 points that broke a 25-year meet record. His victory qualifies him for the upcoming USA U20 Championships in Eugene on June 19-20, where he ranks second nationally. Other Shorewood athletes, including Ava Enriquez and Madeleine Brouillard, will participate in the Nike Outdoor Nationals in Eugene from July 19-22. The high school spring sports season culminates at the State Championships, where athletes can qualify for various summer meets. Marlow's performance is noteworthy as he not only excelled individually but also set a new school record.

Several other athletes from Shorewood are striving to qualify for the Junior Olympics Championships in Houston this year. The WA State Decathlon Championships took place shortly after the WIAA State Track & Field Championships, emphasizing the competitive nature of the spring sports season. These events underscore the potential for high school athletes to transition into elite competition.
