Blood Donors needed as summer starts

Shoreline, WALocal News

Bloodworks Northwest highlights the urgent need for blood donations as summer begins, a time when contributions typically decline while medical demand rises. The organization has scheduled nine mobile donation events in Shoreline and surrounding areas throughout June, including locations such as OrangeTheory Fitness in Bothell and Fircrest School in Shoreline. Whole blood can be donated every eight weeks, while platelets and plasma can be donated more frequently at specific centers. Young donors aged 16-17 can participate with written parental permission, provided they meet the weight requirement of 125 pounds. To facilitate donations, individuals can schedule appointments online or call 1-800-398-7888.

Bloodworks aims to create a community habit of donating, encouraging friends to join in the process. The need for blood is constant, and contributions are vital for surgeries and emergency care. The organization seeks to attract first-time donors while maintaining connections with experienced ones.
