Shoreline Community College announces name change to Shoreline College

Shoreline, WALocal News

The Shoreline Community College Board of Trustees voted in May 2025 to change the institution’s name to Shoreline College, emphasizing a renewed focus on student success and community engagement. Following a community survey that revealed strong support for the change, President Jack Kahn expressed excitement over the opportunity to strengthen the college's identity. The simplified name aims to improve recognition among international audiences and prospective students. Shoreline College continues to expand its academic offerings, including its first bachelor’s degree in Dental Hygiene approved last year. This name change aligns with a nationwide trend among two-year institutions adopting more inclusive names that reflect diverse educational pathways.

A comprehensive rebranding initiative, including a new logo and updated campus signage, is planned for the first half of 2026. In the interim, the college will begin using the name Shoreline College in select communications while retaining Shoreline Community College in broader materials. Kahn reassured that the commitment to community remains central despite dropping the word "community" from the name.
