End of year honors for Shorecrest athletes

Shorecrest High School honored its top athletes during an assembly on June 6, 2025, presenting Athlete of the Year awards to seniors Cassie Chesnut and Carter Nichols. Chesnut, who participated in soccer, basketball, and track and field, and Nichols, recognized for his skills in football and wrestling, were celebrated for their outstanding contributions. The assembly also recognized several All-Conference honorees from the WesCo South, including first-team selections like Quinn Burnham and Oliver Verdoes in baseball, and Lyla Taing in softball. Second-team honors were awarded to athletes such as Koen Ekstrom and David Telling in baseball, while many others received honorable mentions across various sports. Athletic Director Alan Bruns emphasized the importance of recognizing student-athletes and their achievements.

This event not only highlights individual accomplishments but also fosters a sense of community and school pride. Shorecrest's commitment to athletics plays a crucial role in enhancing student engagement and overall school spirit. Recognizing these athletes sets a positive example for future students and encourages participation in sports.
