Kings wins boys and girls state high school track titles

King’s High School achieved a remarkable feat by winning both the boys and girls Class 1A state track and field championships in Yakima. The girls' team dominated the competition, finishing with 95 points—22 points ahead of Lynden Christian. The boys' victory was much closer, clinching the title with a score of 66. 5, just half a point over Lakeside (Nine Mile Falls). Kimberly Beard emerged as a standout athlete, winning the hammer throw with a personal best of 152 feet, 5 inches on her fifth attempt.

Her performance was noteworthy, surpassing the next best mark in state meets across all classifications by over 8 feet. Additionally, Beard excelled at a separate hammer throw competition, achieving a throw of 176 feet, 5 inches, which was 20 feet longer than the runner-up. The success of King’s High School in these events highlights the strength of their track and field program. This victory not only reflects their athletic talent but also enhances the school's reputation in high school sports.
