LFP City Council appoints Ashton McCartney as interim Councilmember
The Lake Forest Park City Council appointed Ashton Alvarez McCartney to Council Position 2 during a special meeting on June 5, 2025. McCartney, who was sworn in by Judge Grant on June 6, will officially begin her role at the Council meeting on June 9. As a lifelong resident of Lake Forest Park, she brings over a decade of experience in employee-benefits consulting, having recently chaired the City’s Planning Commission. In that role, she contributed to updates on the Comprehensive Plan and middle-housing policy. Mayor Thomas French praised her appointment, highlighting her dedication to public service and deep community roots.
McCartney will serve until the November 2025 General Election, where voters will elect a permanent council member. Her interim role is critical as the Council prepares for budget discussions and long-range planning. The Council's decision reflects a commitment to ensuring experienced leadership during this transitional period.
