City of Lake Forest Park sets interview schedule for Council Position No. 2 applicants

Shoreline, WALocal News

The City of Lake Forest Park has set the interview schedule for applicants for Council Position No. 2, with interviews taking place on June 4 and 5, 2025, at 6:00 PM. After the final interview, public comments will be accepted, allowing community members to express their views on the applicants in person at the Council Chambers. The Council plans to appoint a new member who will serve until the certification of the November 2025 general election results, when the elected candidate will assume the remainder of the four-year term. The vacancy was announced earlier this spring, leading to an initial review of applications on May 29, 2025.

According to state law (RCW 35A. 12. 050), the Council must fill the vacancy within 90 days to ensure continuity in governance. Matthew McLean, the City Clerk, is the contact person for additional information regarding the process. The appointment process is crucial as it impacts local governance and representation in the community.

Engaging the public in the selection process reflects the Council's commitment to transparency and community involvement.
