LFP City Council public hearing on code amendments middle housing and ADU legislative mandates

Shoreline, WALocal News

The Lake Forest Park City Council will host a public hearing on June 12, 2025, to review amendments to the municipal code concerning middle housing types and accessory dwelling units. This legislation requires Tier 3 cities to permit various middle housing options across all residential zoning districts, promoting greater housing diversity and affordability. Previously, the Planning Commission conducted a public hearing on May 13, 2025, where they recommended these amendments to the City Council. The upcoming hearing will allow residents to present written and verbal testimony regarding the proposed changes. These legislative amendments aim to align local housing policies with state mandates and community needs.

The City Council's review process follows a growing trend across the region to enhance housing access. Local stakeholders emphasize the importance of these changes in addressing housing shortages. The public hearing will commence at 7:00 PM in the City Hall Council Chambers.
