Birds and bees and bats and dragonflies and otters appreciate the work party at the Echo Lake Park Native Plant Garden
A dedicated group of volunteers enhanced the Echo Lake Park Native Plant Garden by planting native roses and clearing invasive plants this week. The removal of invasive species allows native plants to flourish, improving water quality by absorbing storm runoff. This initiative supports local wildlife, including birds, bees, bats, dragonflies, and otters, who rely on native vegetation for food and habitat. Volunteers included Shane, Micah, Manuèle, Joe, Laurel, Marla, and Paul, with special recognition for Wendi Valles and her team from State Farm. Their collective efforts foster a healthier ecosystem in Shoreline, WA.
The Green Shoreline Partnership played a crucial role in supporting these efforts. Community engagement in environmental stewardship is vital for the sustainability of local parks. The work party exemplifies the positive impact of volunteerism on community health and biodiversity.
