Service, honor, protecting democracy themes of Sunday sign-waving

Shoreline, WALocal News

On May 25, 2025, Shoreline residents participated in a sign-waving event to honor fallen military personnel, coinciding with Memorial Day and the fifth anniversary of George Floyd's death. The event featured American flags and signs protesting various actions by the Trump administration. Everyday Activists organized the gathering, collecting non-perishable food donations for Hopelink and pet food in recognition of military dogs. Future "Social Justice Sundays" events are scheduled for June 1, 8, 22, and 29 at the same location. A "No Kings" march is planned for June 14, coinciding with a military parade proposed by President Trump, which has an estimated cost between $45 million and $92 million.

The event reflects community efforts to honor veterans and advocate for social justice issues. Organizers aim to bring attention to both military service and ongoing social challenges. Such events foster dialogue and awareness around critical issues affecting the community.
