Edith "Edie" Merilynn Loyer-Nelson passed away on April 25, 2025, at the age of 80, leaving behind a legacy of compassion and service. A Celebration of Life will be held on June 14, 2025, at the Shoreline Unitarian Universalist Church, where loved ones will gather to honor her contributions. Raised in Kent, Washington, Edie earned a teaching degree from Western Washington University and later transitioned to social work, focusing on the welfare of Native children. As a single mother, she raised her children, Monica and Paul, with unwavering love and a commitment to community values. Edie was a proud member of the Duwamish Tribe, advocating for its recognition and cultural preservation.

Her dedication extended to her work with various organizations, including the Shoreline Historical Museum and the Women's Political Caucus. Edie’s family and friends will cherish her memory as a model of resilience and generosity. Donations in her memory can be made to her favorite charities, reflecting her lifelong commitment to service and sustainability.
