Shorecrest High School's spring production of The Little Mermaid will feature an impressive 3D digital world created by senior Tyler Born, who is entirely self-taught. Utilizing Blender software, which was also used for the Oscar-winning film Flow, Born designed a 2,500-acre immersive environment filled with custom coral reefs and shimmering waves. Director Andy Kidd emphasized that this production sets a new standard for their theatre, making it a unique experience compared to typical Disney musicals. The show will run from May 15 to May 18, 2025, with evening performances starting at 7:30 PM and matinees at 2:00 PM. Advance tickets are available for $15 for adults and $10 for children or students with an ASB card, while tickets purchased at the door will be $20.

Born expressed that this experience has been both a challenge and an opportunity for creative growth as he collaborates with the cast and crew. This innovative approach to theatre demonstrates the potential of technology in enhancing live performances. The production aims to provide audiences with a memorable and immersive interpretation of the beloved Disney classic.
