The Be SMART for Kids program will be held on June 8, 2025, at 2 p. m. at Edmonds United Methodist Church in Edmonds, Washington. Organized by the North King-Snohomish chapter of the Alliance for Gun Responsibility and Moms Demand Action, the event aims to educate adults on securing firearms to prevent child injuries and fatalities. Participants will receive free firearm lockboxes and trigger locks through a collaboration with King County Public Health and Seattle Children’s Hospital.

Juliet Scarpa, the Washington State Program Lead for Be SMART for Kids, will lead the educational discussion. Since its launch in 2015, the campaign has worked to raise awareness about the life-saving benefits of secure gun storage. The program encourages responsible behavior around firearms and promotes conversations about gun safety among parents. Statistics show that secure storage can significantly reduce the risk of accidental shootings among children. This event reflects ongoing efforts to address gun safety in the community and promote responsible gun ownership.
