Bastyr University lists its Kenmore campus for sale

Shoreline, WALocal News

Bastyr University’s Board of Trustees approved a resolution on May 14, 2025, to list its Kenmore campus for sale. The campus, located at 14500 Juanita Drive N. E. , encompasses over 50 acres on the northeast shore of Lake Washington. Currently, the university utilizes less than half of its building space as it shifts focus toward online and hybrid learning options.

This transition has led to the introduction of new online graduate programs and the closure of three in-person programs due to low enrollment. The planned sale aims to enhance the university's financial health and ensure its future viability, allowing for a move to a new campus in the Seattle area. President Devin Byrd emphasized that this transition could foster development opportunities for affordable housing and community amenities. The university purchased the Kenmore campus from the Archdiocese of Seattle in 2005, and its largest building spans 175,000 square feet. The Board is exploring options for selling the entire campus or portions of it to support its mission in natural health arts and sciences education.
