Sound Transit extends eastside line to Redmond

Sound Transit will launch light rail service between downtown Redmond and South Bellevue starting May 10, 2025, enhancing regional transit options. The 3. 4-mile extension includes stations at Marymoor Village and Downtown Redmond, along with 1,400 new parking spaces. This marks the first project completed under the Sound Transit 3 (ST3) ballot measure approved by voters in 2016. The service will run every 10 minutes from 5:30 a.

m. to 9:30 p. m. , seven days a week, increasing accessibility for commuters. Local leaders, including Sound Transit CEO Dow Constantine, highlight that the extension reflects a vision for a more connected and sustainable region.

The new line will connect with existing transit routes, facilitating easier commutes. Sound Transit now operates 46 miles of light rail across three counties, contributing to regional economic growth. This project illustrates the ongoing commitment to improving public transportation infrastructure in the area.
